I am Jon Kaplan - a Grammy award winning Mixer, Producer and Composer who has enjoyed every minute of the past 25 years getting paid to make music. From rock to pop, reggae to jazz, country to funk, major label to indie, my ears have worked across genres and media to help realize the visions of the many talented artists and clients with whom I have been fortunate to share the recording space.
Following an unforgettable stretch in the 1990s as a member of Atlantic Records’ band The Hatters, my career behind the glass began in NYC as an engineer on hit records for *N Sync, Jennifer Lopez, LL Cool J and Mariah Carey. My subsequent leap into the big chair as a producer and mixer has born fruit with six Grammy nominations and one Grammy award for work with artists including Paul McCartney, Elton John, Walk The Moon, Bebe Rexha, A Great Big World, Allen Stone, Sara Bareilles, Soja, Ray LaMontagne, Zach Williams, Gavin DeGraw, Brett Young and many more. In all, the name Jon Kaplan has appeared on albums totaling over 25 million in sales.
In recent years, my love and excitement for music has expanded to film and television. My compositions and mixes have been featured in dozens of television programs and several films including Pawn Stars, Documentary Now!, Intervention, Duck Dynasty, Love and Hip Hop, Younger, Carrie Pilby, Magnolia’s Hope, Mayfield’s Game, Love, Weddings & Other Disasters, as well as in sports broadcasts for ESPN and others.
